Loxy emerged in the early 1990s through his involvement with London’s pirate radio stations like Eruption FM and Underground FM. He quickly became a mainstay at pivotal London raves such as Desire and Thunder & Joy, where he was celebrated for his sets that featured darker, heavier dubplates. By the mid-90s, he was integral to UK drum & bass institutions Metalheadz and Renegade Hardware, captivating audiences at venues like Blue Note and The End. His performances were noted for their depth and intensity, setting a high bar for any DJ following him. Continuing this well into the 2020s, Loxy is set to perform at the latest instalment of Odyssey Sessions at Control Club on Saturday, May 4.
In addition to his DJing accolades, Loxy has an extensive discography and has been influential in the production sphere since around 1993-1994. He has released numerous tracks and albums, including notable works like Attention Seeker with Quartz and New Age with Resound. His releases have appeared on prestigious labels, including R&S Records, RAM Records, Planet Mu, and his own Cylon Recordings. Noteworthy collaborations have seen him work alongside artists like Skeptical, with whom he released the track Bongo Mania. Other collaborations have featured everyone from Usual Suspects, Dylan, and Bad Company to Resound, Isotone, and Ink. His recent work includes projects on Dispatch Recordings and contributions to Hospital Records’ 25-year compilation.
