Miley Serious, a Paris and New York-based DJ, merges punk’s spirited energy with the rhythmic complexity of electronic sounds. Raised in Toulouse, Miley first forayed into music in the hardcore punk scene, playing bass in a band before transitioning into DJing. This shift did not erase her punk roots, however. Instead, they continue to define her style, shaping her razor-sharp sets that blend breakbeats, drum’ n bass, techno, and bass-heavy sounds. Sounds that will be on full display as Miley Serious joins the 16th-anniversary celebrations at Control Club on Saturday, October 5.
Though DJing since 2007, Miley’s career really took off when she became a resident DJ at two boundary-pushing European venues: Paris’s legendary Rex Club and Berlin’s Killekill. But aside from these residencies, her high-octane sets, characterized by high BPMs and rapid transitions, make her a sought-after performer in Europe, the U.S., and beyond, with appearances at iconic venues like Corsica Studios in London and Ibiza’s DC10.

Beyond her club performances, Miley Serious also hosts a monthly show on Rinse France. Using this format, she has been able to give voice to lesser-known artists, including DJ Sliik, Pictureplane, Ksmba, and many more. Her takeovers of platforms like The Lot Radio in New York and the 8ball community have also helped bridge her bi-continental lifestyle, uniting punk, techno, and bass music under one cultural umbrella. Since 2019, her several Boiler Room appearances have also been pivotal, especially as an alumnus of Boiler Room Hard Dance.
These performances and recognition from media outlets like Electronic Beats, HÖR, and Mixmag have quickly solidified her status as one of the underground’s true tastemakers and a favorite of bass music heavyweights KETTAMA, Yazzus, and DJ Daddy Trance. Aside from performances, Miley Serious is also a risk-taking label owner.
Founded in 2017, 99CTS RECORDS operates as a gritty, multi-dimensional platform that includes music releases, fanzines, and merchandise, showing a creative influence that extends beyond music into fashion and art. A self-described archivist, this interest permeates her life (a vintage fashion connoisseur) and work with 99CTS RECORDS, making it a living archive of subcultural aesthetics and her something of a fashion and creative icon. The imprint also oozes punk and DIY ethos. From its roster lo-fi, and acid-influenced releases, including from X Club, DJ Ketaflush, Ludgate Squatter, KAZUHO, Mutant Joe, to its cassette presentation, there is nothing like 99CTS RECORDS out there.
