Another month, another instalment of the Stray Lights series in Control.
Orkid marks 10 years since their first concert in the current line-up, which took place on May 29, 2016, on the very same stage at Control, and celebrates the occasion with the release of a new album unlike anything they’ve put out before.
Eclipsa / În altă parte is a largely improvised solo performance, recorded live on the Control stage in December 2025. The recording became the soundtrack to the animated film Eclipsa, co-directed by Vlad and Radu, set for release this summer.
The Bucharest trio describe their sound as post-traumatic blues: restless shoegaze threaded with influences ranging from punk, garage, and post-metal to indie, blues, math rock, prog, and even contemporary classical music. Across ten years, Orkid have released five studio albums: Standing Still in the Dark (2016), Suruaika (2018), Deraiat (2020), In the Light We Are Safe (2022), and Noi contra Noi (2023), alongside several singles, most recently “Urlă ca marea” in November 2025.
With more than 300 shows behind them, they have opened for acts including Mogwai, Death in Vegas, MONO, Madrugada, and Lucy Kruger & the Lost Boys, as well as major Romanian names such as Vița de Vie, Șuie Paparude, Coma, and Subcarpați. Their music has also reached screen audiences: “Cad” appeared in the HBO series Ruxx, while “Stargaze” and “Beasts Apart” featured in the feature film Băieții buni merg în Rai. They also composed the scores for the films Suruaika (2022) and Nephilim (2025).
Because two of its members come from visual storytelling backgrounds, Vlad as screenwriter and film director, and Radu as animator and graphic artist, Orkid has always been a deeply cinematic project, with animated visuals, illustration, and design woven into its identity.
Opening the night, D.E.N.I.S. prepare a special set created for the occasion: a hybrid between the synth-heavy electronic show they recently presented at Bazar de Muzică and their usual rock-driven live performances.
Formed in Bucharest in 2020 by musician and visual artist Daniel Boiangiu, D.E.N.I.S. emerged from the capital’s underground with their debut album Miezul Nopții București, earning attention for explosive, unpredictable live shows built around songs of alienation and urban hedonism, embodied by Denis, their silent green-headed protagonist.
In 2025, they released Cuțitul de Argint, a new album inspired by 1970s psychedelic music and film soundtracks. The record opens a more expansive live chapter for the band: sharper synth lines, dance-driven percussion, and a kaleidoscopic atmosphere shaped by a sound that is more personal and melancholic than their earlier work.
