JETLAGGED w/ Aurora Halal & Khidja
Aurora Halal is a producer, DJ, and creator of Brooklyn’s influential Mutual Dreaming party series & the SustainRelease festival.
Shadowy and psychedelic, her hardware live & DJ sets have a hazy sensuality and metallic dance floor intensity that’s at turns playful, dark, euphoric, and emotionally vulnerable.
In all her projects, she treats dance music as an arena for transformation and since 2010, her events have been rooted in an underground, DIY approach that pushes forward thinking sounds, production, and ideas. She’s spent the last 10 years touring likeminded clubs, raves, and festivals worldwide and gained a reputation for powerful, unique performances that work both the body and mind.
She’s 4 years into a residency at NYC’s Nowadays, is a regular at Berghain and previously De School. Aurora has been entering 2022 at full pace, dedicating her energy towards both her sets and productions.
Khidja is a production and Dj duo from Bucharest, Romania. Opposite personalities that modulate into one entity. As a group, they are preoccupied with the way in which technology (musical instruments and other mediums) materialise memory and simultaneously create new futures.
Part of the production stays true to their love for records made in the past, when music was created by people who had studied their instrument for a lifetime and part of it explores new areas, in quite the opposite corner : Soundscape composing or modern electronics, exploring the framework of experimental music practice. Their Dj sets will be nothing short of this.
Their live performances will be them both working a lot of machines to recreate their tracks live. Part of the show is left to chance by using (self) generative music techniques. Khidja also writes musical scores for the moving-image, new media installations, art works and performance shows.
