La Femme (FR) | Control 15 (Sold Out)
French psych-punk rock band La Femme will perform for the first time in Bucharest – October 6 at Control Club – as part of Control 15th anniversary. The band is currently on tour promoting their latest album, Paris-Hawaï.
Formed by guitarist Sacha Got and keyboard player Marlon Magnée in 2010, in Biarritz, the band’s music has been described as synthetic and hypnotic. It mixes elements of cold wave, punk, and yéyé, with musical influence from artists such as Sparks, The Velvet Underground, and Kraftwerk.
La Femme have released several EPs and five studio albums, their latest being Paris-Hawaï (Disque Pointu, 2023). As the title suggests, it’s a concept album about Hawaii, with song titles including “L’hawaienne” (which was originally a Paradigmes outtake), “Moe’uhane Pa’ani,” and “Imagine Waikiki.” The new single “Aloha Baby” features the band’s signature psycho-tropical sound, with a motorik beat and just a few Polynesian accents, plus surfer-style spoken word by Lizzy Ellison.
